A Weekend In Somerset with Flea Retreat

30 April 2018

A week ago I attended the bloggers Retreat in Somerset which was organised by Sally at Whos The Mummy and owner of Tots100. When I originally booked it, I did not know quite what to expect. I have attended other blogging events previously, but this was something totally different. A whole weekend designed to help bloggers create more interesting content through photograpy, video and writing techniques.

Before we arrived we were able to choose our own schedule, mine consisted of lots of photography and video classes in hoping that I could create better images.  Needless to say I was slightly anxious and felt a little out of my comfort zone spending a whole weekend with people who I only knew online.

On arrival we were quickly checked and attended the Welcome Ceremony with a fabulous yoga activity run by Rachel at Rachel Smithbone Yoga.  Rachel was fabulous, I so enjoyed this session and only wish there was a yoga teacher near me, that is funny and inspiring like she was.  After the yoga we enjoyed a Photography Scavenger hunt before the Golden Hour photography session with Tom Arber.

Saturday I attended Before the Shoot with Somerset Film, Filming a Recipe Video with Somerset Film and enjoyed a informative Beach Photography session with Tom. Breakfast and lunch were provided courtesy of the lovely Flea team and the evening meal was provided by caterers.

Sunday was the day of the Fashion Shoot and we were provided with gorgeous outfits and accessories from Tina at No Logo Chick.  Tina has worked in the fashion industry for many years designing collections for top end stores before concentrating on her own online store where you can see lots of garments in many colours and natural fabrics ideal for holidays whether at home or abroad.  All of Tina's items have such beautiful unique detail and feel so elegant.  A huge thank you to Tina for her help with the clothes for the Fashion Shoot.  Of course I must not forget to mention Derek from Derek Lomas Photography who gave us some marvellous tips on lighting and portrait photography.

Sadly it was then time for our farewell lunch, once again courtesy of the Flea team.  I would like to say a huge thank you to Sarah, Lindy, Louise, Monika and of course Sally who worked tirelessly to ensure we all learnt something new and kept us fed and informed throughout the event.  I can honestly say my worries beforehand were not necessary, all the bloggers I met were fantastic and helpful. Lastly of course I would like to thank my sister Sonia at This Mummy Loves for putting up with me for the weekend.

I can't wait until next time :).
