For a while I have been looking at my bedroom in despair, you see when we moved here everything was a bit of a rush and to put it politely, I really did not feel comfortable with the end result. When I was asked to take part in National Wallpaper week I leapt at the chance to transform my bedroom into a more Glamorous theme, I wanted silver, decadent designs and sumptuous fabrics. National Wallpaper week explores 7 different themes and it has been so much fun joining in with this challenge with the help of my hubbie.
The wallpaper I chose for my feature wall is the Jewel Pearl / Silver by Julien MacDonald from Graham and Brown. The intricate lace pattern has a metallic outline and flecks of silver running through the paper and I just love it. Personally I like working with paste the wall wallpaper, it is a lot easier to apply and the paper was a pleasure to work with, no tears or ripping and it seemed to match up perfectly.
I adore this paper so much that I decided to upstyle my boring brown wardrobes. Gone are the ugly monstrosities and in there place are units which I have chalk painted in Old White and Paris Grey and waxed, but best of all I have added the paper to the panels on the doors. I think the effect is fabulous and even hubbie agrees.
I also upcycled some pictures, painting the frames with the chalk paint I used on my wardrobes. To finish my bedroom off I bought a pair of silver and grey touch lamps and some candles which are stood in lacey filligree holders. Finally I just had to buy a pair of silver/grey crushed velvet curtains which look so luxurious I want to wrap myself in them, now I just need to find a throw which is similar.
I can actually relax in my bedroom now, it is so cosy but also alot more glamorous and sexy, I feel like a queen in my palace. What do you think, do you like it?
I was provided with the wallpaper from Graham and Brown for the purpose of this post.
