I often worry about what kind of future my daughter will have, debts from previous governments are having a huge impact today and will burden future generations for years to come. My Voucher Codes recently undertook a study to found out the main concerns parents had for their children and their future.
Living in the East Midlands, one of my main concerns is lack of affordable housing for the younger generations, most small houses and cottages are bought by property developers to use as holiday cottages which is leaving a huge gap in the housing market for those wanting to buy a starter home. In the survey 40% of those living in the East Midlands were worried about house prices and high rents so it appears I am not the only one worrying about this.
Some areas are worried about extremism, terrorism and safety and I totally agree with this. I cannot begin to imagine what our world will be like in 10 years time. Why can’t we all live peacefully side by side, no racism or acts of terrorism, we should be supporting those less fortunate than ourselves and although I am aware funds are limited and people have mixed views on this, may be we should scrap nuclear weapons and put this money to better use. We should not have to live in fear for our lives and neither should the thousands of people fleeing from war zones. I lost a dear friend through the terrorist attack on London and he would never have wanted all this fighting.
Lots of people showed concerns about bullying, whether it be the school playground or at work and having experienced this first hand with one of my sons, I cannot express how much devastation this can have on a young life, continual harassment either verbally or physically can lead to depression, self esteem problems and even suicidal thoughts. My son told me he wanted to die when he was 12 years old and it broke my heart, luckily, I helped him to overcome this, but what if I hadn’t? Would he have been just another casualty of mindless bullying?
So it appears I am not alone in my concerns for our children and future generations, I would be interested to know what your main concern is for your children? You can find all the results from the survey here.
This post is written in collaboration with My Voucher Codes and I was asked to partake in this survey.
If I had children, the pressures on the NHS would be one of my biggest concerns regarding their futures x
ReplyDeleteYes that is a growing concern too Kacie x
DeleteParenting is so hard, looking to the future sometimes feels to scary to concider!!
ReplyDeleteIt sure is Claire x
DeleteAs a uni student I've experience first hand the huge rise in fees and I feel like the fees are only going to rise even more in the future. At the same time, I'm sure student funding is going to decrease which is going to impact a lot of people's decision on whether or not to even go to uni and so the gap between rich and poor is just going to increase...
ReplyDeleteLaura @ What's Hot?
I don't envy students Laura it must be so hard juggling studies and financial responsibilities x
DeleteI agree with all of your concerns, it is terrifying the world we are bringing our children up in x
ReplyDeleteIt bus very sad Rebecca x
DeleteMy main concern for my children's future is that they may never be able to own their own house. In the past 3 years we have paid out £46,800 in rent to our landlord as we don't yet have a deposit to buy anywhere (we need a minimum of £40,000) I worry that with prices increasing my children will struggle the way we have.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Daniella, where we live house prices are astronomical x
DeleteMy mum has the same worry for me, it's so tough out here atm!

ReplyDeleteIt really is a stressful situation for parents today x
DeleteYou are defiantly not alone with your worrying thoughts hun.
ReplyDeleteI worry about these things all the time - The world in 10 years, Im thinking maybe 5 years with the things happening now we don't even know if tomorrow is promised.
But we can only hope for the best for our children and educate them on life as much as possible so that they are not clueless.
Awesome post.
Thanks for sharing lovely

Thank you Charlotte x
DeleteThe house market isn't great for first time buyers at the moment I dread to think what it will be like in years to come. The same with the job situation. I'm praying that things will improve and the world that they will raise their own children in will be a better place x
ReplyDeleteMe too Victoria x
DeleteThis post has made me realise how unstable the future is. There is so much to worry about! x
ReplyDeleteIt is scary to think what the future might hold - the word is such a scary place. x
ReplyDeleteI think the world gets scarier every day but as scary as the world is there is still a lot of love out there and we should always remember that.
ReplyDeleteThe housing issues worries me now, let alone the girls. I worry about the world in general for my girls, there seems to be so much hatred towards others its scary!
ReplyDeleteI'm worried that I won't be able to afford my own house, or even a flat, for several years and I'll just continue living with my parents.
ReplyDeleteI try not to think too far about the future, for me it is the now that is important x
ReplyDeleteIt does seem that it is getting more and more difficult to get on the property ladder, and I do worry about money and houses and just about everything for my daughter. It's difficult and it seems like things might get worse before they get better.
ReplyDeleteI can relate to some of these worries. Being in my late twenties, I don't have the exact same worries as you do for your daughter. I for one am mostly worried about work, social security and healthcare. I do relate to th housing issue, but ntos ure it'll be a greater problem in ten year's time than it is now.
ReplyDeleteOh - I do try not to worry about the future, and live for now. The world is equally amazing and horrifying, and all I pray for is good health for my family and I. Kaz x
ReplyDeleteI really try and put these things to the back of my mind, but I do find myself worrying that my children wont be able to afford to set up home for themselves. We were never in a position to buy a home, and I really home that my children will be, however living in London, that seems more and more unlikely.
ReplyDeleteI try not to worry about it too much - there's not much I can do about the future in those ways unfortunately
ReplyDeleteI try not to worry too much about the future, because if I think about it too much it makes me quite anxious. I just have to hope that we're bringing the boys up to make the best of themselves and the world that they find themselves in.
