One of my pet hates is people leaving things on the kitchen side when they could quite easily put them away. Workspace can become a big issue if you have too many large bulky appliances and limited work surface to keep it. I only have items on sight that I use on a regular basis such as my toaster, slow cooker and kettle. Ideally I would love an island in the middle of my kitchen with cupboard space underneath, this would solve a lot of my storage problems and give me more much needed work surface.
Many of our cupboards have plenty of space, but some of that is hidden in corners making it difficult to access. Slide out storage in cupboards helps to organise and de-clutter the available space, making items more accessible without having to kneel down and search. Shelving is a good way of adding more space for storing items such as dinnerware, glasses and cookbooks and if like me my only flat wall is taken up by a radiator, this is a great way of adding a feature to that wall.
Finally, the one thing that I have always wanted is a nice tea set. Yes I have lots of china mugs but they do not match my plates. I cannot count the amount of pots that have been broken but this does not stop me from wanting something nice. There is nothing better than having nice crockery to entertain your guests with and I love this Alice in Wonderland set, wouldn’t this make a great focal point?

I think I realised I was growing up when I got excited about beautiful kitchens - haha. I too would love a nice tea set but I'm not sure I'd let anyone use it in case they broke it! Having lived in shared accommodation, I totally agree with the frustration of messy sides too x
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting Codie x
DeleteAhh! I would love a kitchen just as you described....Ours at the moment is tiny and has no room for anything!
ReplyDeleteMine is moreorless the same Kim x
DeleteI love that tea set!!
ReplyDeleteBut more practically speaking I'm with you when it comes to storage space in cupboards it is usually worth investing in some slide out shelving so you can actually reach items in the cupboard.
I do too Angela although I would probably be scared to use it lol x
DeleteEverybody needs a nice tea set! A cup of tea is much more special when it is enjoyed from a tea set!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Charlotte x
DeleteGreat post. Isn't it fun getting inspired and fantasizing about your ideal home? For us, we have a small kitchen so it's all about functionality, but my parents' kitchen is truly the center of the home.
ReplyDeleteI love inspiration and fantasising lol x
DeleteI love this post! I can't wait to finally have my own house and have the kitchen i've been dreaming of. I love the little teacups!
ReplyDeleteI adore that alice in wonderland tea set- so beautiful! I hate it when people leave things on counters as well. I never know why a teaspoon can't just go straight in the dishwasher?! x
ReplyDeleteI love your ideal kitchen ideas, mine are something along the same kind of decor, very bright maybe scandinavean and monochrome. x
ReplyDeleteMy kitchen is tiny I would love to upgrade to something bigger and better - love your ideas. x
ReplyDeleteKeeping on top of the clutter that builds up in a kitchen is a thankless task. You start out with tidy cupboards and clear worktops and then one day you look and every cupboard is jam-packed full with no space left on the worktops either. Where does it all come from?
ReplyDeleteThe kitchen you've described sounds like the perfect one! x
ReplyDeleteIt sounds lovely, I have in my head what my dream kitchen will be like and one day I am going to have it x
ReplyDeleteOh wow this look amazing. I really can't wait until we can buy a house and I can design the kitchen from scratch!
ReplyDeleteMy kitchen needs new cupboard doors, well that is what I have decided we need rather than a whole new kitchen x
ReplyDeleteI have such a small kitchen I can't even picture my ideal kitchen. :( I know I'd love everything to be black and white. I love matching sets. The Alice in Wonderland set is great too. I'd love it.
ReplyDeleteThis amory brown kitchen!! Love it! I used to work as kitchen designer and now as interior designer and I adore your ideas!!
ReplyDeleteI would adore a new kitchen. I love the kitchen ideas you have chosen and the tea set is the cutest!

I am also all about functionality over fussy and it's really important to have a kitchen space you are happy with as like you said it's the heart of the home
