How do you encourage your child to do homework?

28 April 2012

Since Grotbogs started year 2 she comes home every Friday with her homework diary which usually contains a story to write on a topic they have been studying at school, her spelling zapper and phonics work. The problem is how do I get her to do this when she has been at school all day. Grotbags has a very short attention span.

I have tried to encourage her by making it fun etc but she always puts it off for another day. We always end up arguing and I am the ogre by shouting and taking away something she likes until the homework is completed. I want Grotbags to be happy doing her homework and for it not to be a chore every week that I dread coming round.

I would love help and thoughts on this so our weekend is not fraught with the thought of homework.
