Last Saturday Grotbags and I visited our local Brantano store at Heeley Retail Park in Sheffield to see what kind of service and range of shoes were available. On entering the store, I was happy to see that there were no massive queues to have Grotbag’s feet measured. There is nothing worse than an impatient child who just wants to try every pair of shoes on in sight, believe me my daughter does have a fetish for shoes. A polite young woman measured my daughter’s feet and I felt confident that this had been carried out correctly, as the staff undertake rigorous training before becoming expert fitters.
Brantano stock a wide variety of top brand shoes such as Clarks, Start Rite and Hush Puppy. Prices vary but are as reasonable as most other shoe shops and cater for every budget. I like the fact that the shoes are sorted and displayed in pairs and size, this makes it so much easier than waiting for an assistant to fetch the other shoe. Next came the fun part, forget about children and candy shops, Grotbags is like a child possessed when it comes to trying on shoes. She can never make a decision as to which ones she likes best and would happily have spent all day trying on all the shoes in her size, there was school shoes, pumps, trainers, sandals and even heels (which we obviously didn’t buy). After trying on half the store she finally decided on a pair of Nike trainers and a pair of Clarks pumps, both of which fitted lovely.
At the checkout, we were offered the new treatment which weatherproofs your shoes and costs £4 per pair. The trainers were popped into a machine and came out 2 minutes later waterproof, what a great idea and no asthma attack for me from spraying her shoes. I thought the shop was well laid out and all the staff were eager to help in choosing the most appropriate shoes for her, both pairs cost £24.00 which is a really good price. So what did Grotbags think of her trip to Brantano? You can see on the Youtube clip below.
